Removing Model A spring leaves

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JimSig, Feb 6, 2010.

  1. I've always heard of removing spring leaves to lower a Model A, but I've never met anybody who knew the correct order in which to do it. Assuming it's a 10-leaf rear spring, would you remove leaf #9 first? Then which one next? I'm just hoping to hear from someone who knows the best way to do it. Thanks.

the rule of thumb i have always heard is to remove every other leaf rather than the top few. what kind of car is it going it? i think the 10 leaf spring was for sedans only. maybe trucks. every coupe and roadster i have seen has a 7 leaf rear spring.

As doctorZ said, from the top of the spring pack,1st,3rd,etc.In addition to lowering a small amount, removing leafs will reduce the spring rate for a better ride on modern roads.
