So it's a removable hard top? How do you secure it?

My top is made from a piece of MDF, it was the only wood I could find that was over 48" wide, then I covered it in a layer of foam and then vinyl. I have an L bracket in each corner and a support brace across the middle. 10 screws total hold it on. I don't really take it off very often. I've had to take it apart once in the past 8yrs to redo the 3M spray adhesive.

Mine is simmilar to daddyo cept its alumn. I have 5 threaded studs that are welded on the bottom side of the top & go through the l-brackets screwed on with washers and wing nuts. Didnt need center brace. I can remove top in 5 min. And really enjoy it . Gud luck.....................

If you made a wood frame with acenter support, and t notches around the perimeter, you could use light weight marine plywod or luan to skin it, the t notches will accommodate turnbuckles, looks a boat supply places for them in chrome. You could create a very nice looking removable top, looks like it belongs there

i've never done what you're asking about, but i did have a corvette roadster once with both tops, so i'm sort of familiar with removable tops.

for the hold downs how 'bout sourcing 4 (or more) convertable front latches. they just latch with a cam action and hold tight. it seems to me that you could install or remove the top in about 30 seconds with no wing nuts or anything else to lose or that could vibrate loose.

i don't know what you could scrounge up at a bone yard, but i'm certain that there are sources for new reproduction latches.

ATCH i agree that would be a better set up with cov. latches. i thought of that also but just used what i had in the shop. ive had it my way over a year with wing nuts on flat washers and lock washers with no problems.may look @ early vette or t-bird latches in near future. least we r on the same page. gotta get my 11yo granddaughter to help with pics......................
