Any recommendations on a reliable engine rebuilder in L.A. area. Have a 255 Merc and 215 6Cyl need to have overhauled. Nothing too radical on the 255, just cam kit and sleeving. For the 6Cyl, need a full overhaul. Just can't afford to goto H&H or Egge.

    Any recs would be appreciated.

Dave Basham at BMS in San Bernardino did the 8ba for my '39 p/u. Fair price IMO and he knows flat heads. Worth giving him a call and the trip to check out his shop. He's got some good credentials and has built a wide variety of race engines. He used to work for Gale Banks in Azusa. It took a while longer than I thought but he had some medical issues which delayed things which could have happened to anyone running a small shop.

As always, I recommend Burbank Speed and Machine.
