It was kind of a hot rod hang out. An older kid named Dale Yoder worked there. He had built a 1954 Tudor Customline, Olds glade green metallic, black T&R, hot 289” K engine, 4speed, jacked up all around with chrome reverse an Blackwalls. A very tuff machine! By the time I was 12, I talked my dad into letting me spend my$100.00 made working at the Schwinn shop on this 1952 Tudor Customline . The plan was a blue version of Dales green one. Never did get around to paint or interior. She did get jacked up with chrome reverse and went through a couple built up flatheads. Just might have to res erect her... one of these days... 2. Ute's are trucks based on production cars in Australia, and we only concentrate on pre '65 makes.

In this thread we are only interested in '52 - '54 Fords. HRP

My first OLD car was a ‘53 Ford Coupe , it was owned by a lady that owned a sewing machine sales store . The top of the backseat was normal size , while the lower 1/2 was about 1/2 size . I kept it for a few years and sold it , flathead , auto .

  6. I've been looking for a '52 - '53 Fordomatic steering column for a long time...Might as well be hunting a unicorn saddle..!
Finding '52 -'53 Ford cars is hard enough , as they seem to be scarce..but a Fordomatic vehicle is even harder to find..
    One of these days.....

That Ute in question looks like it's a Ford Ute of the years posted in this thread based on the quarter panels.

  10. Yes, it's a '52 - '54 , the dye that questioned the UTE posted a photo of a El Camino. HRP

I wish I had a pic of it but my brother-in-law had a 54 Ford in 1961. it was a real sleeper, it had a 390 engine that Bob Burdick had run at the Daytona 500 the year before. you can google bob burdick nascar & a nice history comes in a wikipedia link

In 59 when I was in High School there were quite a few 54 Fords around-Some coupes some 2 dr sedans. A few were done nicely with frenched headlites. molded etc and tuck and roll, Some had Olds and Cads in them too-their Dad's had money. Friend had a black 54 coupe with an Olds that was hard to beat!

That reminded me of one of my classmates that had a 54 Ford V-8 with an automatic transmission. He had a wheel cylinder go out on the rear axle. Instead of fixing the cylinder, he just cut the brake line and folded back over itself......giving him three wheel brakes.
Well we all lined up behind the busses as we couldn’t leave until the busses did. He would apply the brakes and start giving that Ford the gas till one tire would start slowly rotating.....then a little smoke would start coming off of it! .......slowest burn out in history!
He went on to be the only student in our class to do Federal time!

Dad's first new car was a '53 convertible, that he traded in on a new '56 convertible. My friend, now passed on, had an orange '53 coupe right after high school, that had a 390/3speed in it, fun car.

  16. My first car was a '53 Mainline. Bought it in early 1966 for $35! Rebuilt Flathead V-8 from Sears, '54 DeSoto grille, '56 Olds tailights, de-chromed deck and hood. Refrigerator White. I was stylin'.:D;) 1976-1215534178-9ab25ba556f2bc0b0ea746703db5014d.jpg 03222016.jpg 06272016_0002.jpg

  17. My dad had a '54 Mainline, light blue and a real nice car, traded it in on a '59 Ranchwagon. I would take a decent '54 in a heartbeat.

Here’s my ‘54 Country Squire with ‘57 292 and fordomatic.

I bought it in Pennsylvania when my daughter was born and I found out her car seat wouldn’t fit in a mustang. My kids love riding in the “surfboard car”

It also makes a great parts hauler, a good place to sleep and as seen above a good tow car.

HRP have to love and thank you for your efforts on these old fords. My neighbor has a 54 ford that I work on for him.

Now if you can see your way to get into a 49 dodge, help push the vendors to make more parts ... I would really appreciate it :D
Cmon, you know you would look good in one!

  22. The '54 Ford Club of America was established in 1986, and it took a long time to convince the vendors there was enough interest n these car to start manufacturing parts.

Start a national club, heck start a international club and get a presence on the internet. our club has close to 500 dues paying members that receive a newsletter, a lot f '54 Ford owners on the hamb that benefit from Tom's hard work in the past and there is also a facebook '54 Ford club.

The vendors have to know there work will be needed. HRP

  23. ........No, sorry Danny. I only have a couple of shots of that car and nobody would take a picture of it with me in for fear of breaking the camera.

  24. Maybe it was this Victoria that belonged to my Aunt.:D;) 03132019.jpg

OMG, You know how hard it is to find dodge fans? Those international fans need to fend for themselves! :D

My first car. I bought it at 15 and started to cut it up right away. My dad said "why are you taking off a perfectly good bumper?" and I said just wait and see. I wish I had a picture of the front end with the frenched lights and molded in 55 Ford grill. 46077528_2039478409405956_2626282315780718592_n.jpg

  27. After reading this and looking at a nice '54 4-door at Draw Week... I want one. The body has to be very good and complete, if anyone runs across one, send me a PM. I'm looking to get something together for Drag Week and or the HR Power Tour.

  30. This is my 54, my dad got this in the late 70's when I was a kid so I have grown up with it being around. it's 332/2 speed/9" from a 59 Ranchwagon. It's also been shortened by 10", was originally a 4 door, so it's a short door two door now. This was all done late 60's or early 70 's, if only it could talk, there must be some stories about how it came to be like this. q.jpg w.jpg
