Koolkemp, I did check out your build thread. What can I say? Your a monster! I will talk about all this talent that's "out there" and how it relates to what I'm doing on this build. Down the road.

Here's a look at the new rocker panel (inner and outer).

 

L 1/4 inner and outer. A really cold weekend that helps with the heat that's building under my collar over this rust damage that was visible/obvious. The Kustom Kar GOD is reminding me that "all things WORK TOGETHER for the good to those..."

Do you have a parts lost going?? Anything that you know you will need?? I can start digging

 

Thanks Pete for the inquiry. I've done well on the first list post# 24. My needs now are a '46 front bumper bar and gaurds (I have the brackets), rear gravel deflector, trunk lid, Spalding ignition, small SW gauges-oil,temp and a mech tachometer (I think they're 2 1/4" diameter faces, and a '49-'50 Mercury accessory steering wheel.

 

Good luck with the parts list and the build. I will be eagerly watching this progress.

 

I know you're not happy doing the rust repair, but your photos are going to help me a lot when I get into my '41 in the spring. Thanks for posting them.

 

I might have the gauges. Do you have a pic of the type you need?

 

Not quite yet. I have to run a pic past Jesse to see what was there.

 

I took this piece out of the L 1/4 that was removed to make a L door repair panel. It had the same contour.

The drivers floor looked like it had a dime size hole.

I needed a piece that had a lip on it. I found it on my '50 Ford parts car. This is a cowl piece.

Been so busy this whole year
with a few cryptic book projects
(some kar, some other).
When not procuring & restoring
rare vintage rides and speed parts,
this is how I’m burning the sunrise oil.
Haven’t even gone on a road trip longer than a day or two trip.
Making only the quintessential telephone calls & emails.
Always driven by the administrative self-discipline
of the self-employed…
In the interest of historical authenticity,
did you know,
Jesse told us that the back window was composed
of a sheet of 1/4" aircraft grade Plexiglas,
that he got to bend and conform to the convex ellipse,
because of complications cutting tempered glass.
He also mentioned that he was at a scrap yard
and noticed a sliding door channel of polished aluminum
with a particularly graceful curve to it,
that shortened to approximately 10” with the ends filled,
made a really cool rear license plate light.
That’s what he used.
Jesse has a clever eye.
He gifted us these
original Marcia Campbell snapshots circa 1950-51,
that she gave him,
of the Bill Taylor ’49 Chevy convertible.
Jesse is as elusive as a snowy panthera.
These veterans can be skeptical,
indeed you are cultivating their trust.

Thanks Michelley, I knew about the back glass, I hav'nt gotten to the lic plate light. This will help. I'm learning that it's valuable to also get perspective's from those that were "around" then as well.
