Technical Reccomendations for chroming in Los Angeles area

I need to chrome my bumpers and misc. other trim. Can someone recommend someone good and cheap in LA?

 

Always difficult to find good. And then add cheap to the mix!

good and cheap. I knew I was reaching.
I found a bunch of guys online but would rather get a referral.

 

When I was living down there I used Verne's in Gardena, not real cheap but they can sure revive a used up bumper when they have to. Also Supreme plating in Inglewood, they used to do all the plating on my Harleys. Haven't been there in years but some of the guys who hung out at the Ruby's cruise said they are still in business and very reasonable.

 

Verne's is not cheap but does great work!

Artistic silver plating is great but costly. Ogden chrome just did a bunch of stuff for my radical 50 Chevy. All custom stuff. All perfect. One more time.. perfect.. price seemed high until I saw the product. Check out gene Winfield custom found...

There is a place I just used in upland California called xmetalchrome. I found them on the web. They had the best price around, and the stuff I had fine looks great.

I always used Van Nuys chroming and had good results .

 

x2 had all my chrome done by these folks,within a year started to pit

 

what ever happened to Superior on East End in Pomona, they were good in the late 80s?

 

Anaheim plating....good dude

 

If you don't mind polishing later I got a guy off the 91 and paramount. He chromes to fit your budget. He was saying 150 bumper flash chrome or a bath and polish in copper for 250 total. It don't flake off either

HaHa go for bumper boyz, you will get what you are asking for and then some! don't just walk away from them run as fast as you can!

 

Stretching the topic a bit, where is the closest "out of state" facility to SoCal that does chrome plating the hazardous way? CA forbids the use of certain chemicals used in the plating process. I am willing to travel a bit for good work.

I was surprised at the above quote regarding Artistic Silver Plating. Verne's definitely does nice work, but when I brought him some parts for my '56 he quoted $2000. Artistic did the exact same job for around $600, and I was satisfied with the quality. Admittedly these were badly pitted pot metal parts, and Bob probably didn't want the job, but still...

That said, I don't believe that there is another shop in California that compares with Sherm's in Sacramento, but they are definitely the top end in price.

 

I've had good results from Faith Plating in LA

 

superior plating in pomona still active difrent place under new ownership

 

I'd rattle can it silver before going to Verne's . They tried everything that they could to ruin my Duval windshield .
