Ok, so today I went over to my buddies garage and we rebuilt the TH400 that came with the 500 caddy mill I bought a few months ago. The guy I bought it from (a fellow Hamber) said the tranny was slipping a bit.... after opening it up I can see why!

This is the first rebuild I've ever done, but even I could point out all the mistakes whoever previously attempted to rebuild it. I don't know the technical term for the shaft coming into the side of the transmission (selects the gear), but I do know a cotter pin and NOT a carpenters nail should've been holding it in. Some of the clutch packs were put in backwards, and all the clutches were brand new (good thing considering how much clutch material was floating around in the case!

Next post will have the pics!
