  3. All the rear engine builds I've seen, look to have a lot of time spent on the design table. They look like they are well engineered as well. It's not my thing but, it does garner respect for the builders from me.

Yep, very few street "rears" over the years. Quite a few track ones though, with Red Case's being my own favorite.

Here're the three iterations of my own HAMBster before switching to its present "side" engine style.

Crap, now I'm entertaining stupid thoughts of putting the side engine (it's a "Midnite Oil" style layout) Flyin' Brick II in my avatar on the street, as I do still have the original '19 Buick frame rail tag.
    Damn you, HAMB !!!

Are you saying you can't do a build on the Hokey Ass Forum which is for Builds that miss the Traditional definition for any number of reasons?

I've shared your Hotrod several times in applicable Threads...Your out of the box but that's also a very significant part of the Big Picture...

I think you're saying the Track gives you issues not the Hamb per se...

Hardly. I'm saying I don't need yet another project even farther out in left field. :D

Glad you enjoy the tin.

I wish I had pics of it but about 10yrs ago there was a guy in Omaha that had an early Karman Ghia with an Olds Toronado engine and trans-axle in the trunk.

I'm surprised that the Norman Timbs car has not yet appeared in this thread:

While that transaxle was designed at the same time as the TH400, and used 95% of the same parts, it was not available for commercial sale until the 1966 model year, and is thus too new for this board.

I recall seeing in a 1960's hot rod magazine vehicle very similar to that pictured above, but it drove a modified Ford banjo diff making it front wheel drive. Did not seem like a good idea, but it was sure out of the box for thinking and different...
