rear end width?

  1. k-member is trying to find a ford car paternd rera end that is 56in wide at the backing plates i looked in the tec fourm but to no avail and help on what car might have a rear that wide

    Thats pretty wide! :eek: Look at big ford cars, like mid-late 70s. I have a 9" with the big bolt pattern and disc brakes that i think was 57 backing plate to plate. Came out of a 77 Lincoln I think. gene

    That may be because MOST rodders measure the rear end this way...

    The way he used does not take into account the differences in brake drum widths....and can throw your measurement off by 3 to 3 inches.....Most sites on the web measure the 9 inch this way and here is a link with a Ford width list.....all the way at the end of the page...

    A 68 Fairlane has a rear end in your range.......60 or so measured the way I have shown...
