Technical Rear end ID help

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by jadegrenade 51, Nov 1, 2013.

  1. I know the pictures are bad but can anyone help me ID this rear end? It's for sale and the guy says its a 60-70's Olds rear end. I was considering it for my 55 Chevy.

64 on back but most likely 57 to 64.

  3. A 57 Olds rear should be close to the right width for your 55. Not sure about a 58 width, but 59-64 will be wider and could be too wide for your 55. I know the old common swap was to use a 57 Pontiac rear which would bolt into a 55-57 Chevy, not sure about Olds?

  5. It turns out that the rear end is a 58 Olds 29 spline. These rear ends are my latest obsession! I think I'm going to put this one under my 51 Fleetline. Don't know what the going rate is on 57-58 Olds rear ends but I think I did pretty good on this one.
