  2. Sure looks like a Dana to me. Is there a number right here at the 4o clock position? The rear is upside down 20210704_183459.jpg

Looks to be a 53-56 F100 Dana 44 as spring perchs are on top of axle

5 on 5-1/2 lug pattern would pretty well confirm that.

44 was used in lots of different vehicles...including Chevy, Ford, Dodge, GMC, International trucks, afaik.

You called it. It has a 44 stamped into it.
    Is it worth much?

I sold the 44 out of my Ranch Wagon with 4.11's last year for 100 bucks, IIRC

might be, to someone who needs it. But it depends what it's out of. And what condition it's in.

    $5 to $500.

They are fairly strong and came with a limited slip, 4.10 gear's weren't uncommon.

Pull the plug, see how much water comes out of it, then pop the back cover off and see if the ring gear is pitted.
Then looking at the carrier you can tell if it’s an open drive or posi, I’d assume the disc thingies are shot. The posi should hold 60-70 ft/lbs torque if in good shape, I’d suspect not.
If it had water in it, then consider cost of all the bearings, axle, ring, pinion and seals. Then the brakes, install kit.
By the looks of it, if I’m buying it I’d probably pay 50 bucks at most, less for an open drive.
I assume you’re making an offer, so don’t forget about brake parts as well.

If the Ring and pinion are good enough to run, you’ll still be adding on 300+ to it.

That rear looks like it’s been out in the weather for quite awhile.
Kinda makes those 150k mile 8.8’s in a pick and pull for 150 a bit more attractive.

Now if you’re selling, you have a gold mine;)

On a Stude 44 when you pull the fill plug the posi unit (if it has it) will be very close to the opening.
