I"ve got the same envy ,,just to lazy to get it finished .. my choice of engine is a bbc .. but only 402 cubes .. JEFF
The car itself is killer....but tell me about that timing cover.. I've never seen one of those and that front dizzy is really damn cool!
Yeah guys this a true old race car that scrape had found. He recieved the first annual Dirty's Pick at Jamiefest this year. We really like this car and with the straight axle up front will be even cooler. Keep up the great work. Cant wait to see it in person again. Good job Scrape. Looks like you drug Satansride into helping you alittle.
"Looks like you drug Satansride into helping you alittle." ha ha.... what ever. that homo was nowhere to be found when i did this. the front drive dist is a pete jackson. timing cover is stock with a hole drilled in it. here is a before pic. at pistons n paint. (pic stolen of the hamb)
Thanks for the info on the front drive...and the car looks killer.. For some reason i love the way it looks in the last pic.. I can just see pullin' into the drags with it looking just like that and packin' some real heat under the hood.. cool!
yea, i like it both ways. back in the day this thing ran a aluminum headed 427 and a 4speed. ive been told it would pull the driver side front wheel 4-5 feet in the air.... and theres pics to prove it (still working on geting those). any way ive wanted a gasser 55 for a long time. and about a year ago my cousin traded into a 56 gasser and has been rubing it in ever since. (dirty) pic from jamiefest 04
Straight axles look pretty good under the late models as well. Local youngster Mike Beugeleisen's mile-high Poncho runs in the 7s as smooth and straight as if it were on the ground.
i have a buddy of mine who is currently building a 37 chevy straight axle. he builds for a living, then sells, anyone interested can "pm" me, i can get photos from him on the progress and post.
Looks good Troy. This setup with the round tubing really looks slick in person it's almost a shame to put the sheet metal back on.I see satan's ride got his mug in that last pic.He always seems to do that some how!
A guy I know in Wisconson had a rod shop and he had a stash of front drive setups similar to that. I believe it was a Mallory dizzy that was cast into an aluminum cover. It looked pretty damn cool.
