Rare?? Just got these the other week. Supposedly they were put on a '70 'Cuda in '71. Seem to be Appliance Plating wheels. The wheels have three bolt patterns. And the heavy ring is bought in a specific pattern. These are 4.5. Would like to find some 4.75. IMG_20191228_181820.jpg

  7. Bart aluminum 15 x 3.75 slots with one inch backspace, extremely light weight compared to a cast wheel , I've never seen any before...so I bought them

  8. I believe American Racing did them as a less expensive wheel for Cobra replicas. I’m guessing 15-20 years ago.

  14. a few years ago, we were travelling through central Nebraska, we had a couple of rucks/trailers loaded with 53 54 chev convertibles & parts. We stopped for lunch & of course everyone gathered round to look at it. They told us about Dwight Bond being a few miles down the road. He had all kinds of vintage mags, pie crust slicks & quite a few un-drilled Halibrands.

  15. I am not sure how rare these (I got a pair) are . They are 4.5x15 Ansens. They are old original dual pattern Ansens and not American repops. Maybe hard to come by is a better description then rare.

The deep wheels in the top of the picture are pretty rare. I bet I’m the only guy in a several state radius that has a set. I built them from a pair of 37 wide five centers and a pair of Chrysler mini van outers ;):D 23751FB3-C267-4B65-9A27-1025FA61D16E.jpeg

Thank you ,enloe. I quit buying them about 25 years ago, once they came back into fashion; and got to expensive. The Vette hardly ever strays much more than 40 miles from home. I think yours and mine would make a pretty pair , parked side by side.

That was what I was thinking. I will trailer mine because we camp for 4 days and I can’t haul the tent and stuff in it.

I am hoping that I can get a bunch of the Vette guys to bring their cars. If they do I am hoping for a good group photo.

I'd say that these are pretty rare. There may have been only a total of two sets of these made.
Anyone know anything about these ?
Cleaver 70's drag racers may know where they came from...
    Magnesium, 10" x 16" and 3-1/2" x 15".

Beaner : They are American's Lemans style wheel. They were offered early 60's thru mid 60's. Only ever made of magnesium,in 15"x 4" and 15"x 6". Pretty well got replaced in American's lineup when the 15"x 4" in the picture following them came out in 1965. I have never come across any Lemans that were not tube type with the fill hole always on the face ; as opposed to tubeless style with the fill on the flat area between the spokes. They could be had pretty cheap years ago, compared to torque thrusts.

I have a set of 4 Kelsey Hayes Strippers or 20 Spokes. 4 Kelsey center caps and the special lug nuts for them. 2 origional boxes ( poor shape ) & two mounting instructions and decals. 20140906_191240.jpeg

    Donut Dave -

Ding - ding, you are correct.
Although the picture that I have they are on one of his Camaros in 71.

So that's two shots on two different of Harrells cars with these wheels, Camaro and Vega. I bought these thru e-bay a few years back. The guy told me that Dick designed and had them built. On one hand, this is making more sense. On the other hand, the guy told me that the rear wheels were 15"...they are 16"..! The tires that were on the wheels said 16"..! I guess the guy had a hard time reading..!
I couldn't use them as hoped. Been sitting ever since.

    Mike

P.s. - sorry Dave, the "quote" shows up on my note, but didn't transfer to the post..!?

  26. Looks like the front wheels have not been drilled. They would look great polished.

  27. I like em maybe because they are different. If I am ever rich enough to won a car to put 'em on (would need to be the right car) I am going to try and hunt some down.

I new a guy (not real well his sister was or is my hot truck buddy) that had a set of wheels like those not yet drilled in the '90s. He wanted 1200 dollars for them back then said that they were Halibrands. That does not mean that they were but that is what he said.

Doubt seriously that they are Halibrands. No cast in numbers, no name, no symbols of any kind. Only seen on Dick Harrell's cars.
They also seem to be cast different than Halibrands. A lot less porosity, more solid. Almost like pressure or die cast.
