The product I'm using for the solution is "hth spa pH increaser", it is primarily sodium carbonate...I got it in the swimming pool supplies dept. at Wal Mart. The bucket I got for free at a truck show, and the battery charger I'm using is an old Craftsman unit, (6 or 12 volt) that I bought in '61 or '62...think I got my money out of that one.
Just found your thread... toooo cool! Hope you run it at the Antique Nationals! Can you get it done in a month??
I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the year, nearly four years into it now...I'm old, slow and on a tight budget, but making progress. Just not fast progress.
Thanks for the kind words, this build has been the most fun I've had with a car since the mid '60s. Back to the basics hotrodding with lots of doodles on scratch paper and chalk marks on the garage floor engineering!
One more trip to Eagle Field...a couple of passes in Old6rodder's Barn Job and back to our build. Bending tube and started on the cage and seat mount...slowly, but surely it's coming together. I'll just let the pictures do the talking this time.
Slightly more together today...Old6rodder came over for some bench racing and had to try out the seat now that it's mounted properly. Got the body back in place and it feels right. Controls all fit the seat location nicely. Got the turtledeck fitted and in place. Must say things are looking more like it should.
Hey...I've known that "depraved lunatic" for over 51 years...he's earned the right just by hanging in here all that time.
I was wondering because he looked confused ... Like he was sitting backwards in the car and didn't reconize that "thing" in front of him !!!
Great progress this week...got the rest of the cage bent up and tacked in place. First picture...front quarter shot: Second picture...rear quarter shot: Third picture...side shot: Last picture...gotta sit in it and dream:
Nuthin' more fun than building an old style drag car. Looks like you are having all kinds of fun. Nobody's gonna walk by your racer without stopping for a long, appreciative gander.
