That looks like a decent idea. It was those stupid drains that rotted the floor right our on my ranchero. I may have to steal that idea. What does that hose look like on the inside where it attaches on the other end?

nice build mine is a little different IMG_0691.JPG

  3. I couldn't really see too well, I felt inside and it may have been siliconed in there. I'll take a better look tomorrow and let you know what I see.

  4. That's cool! Fender well headers flip front end, perfect stance.

  5. A few updates...[IMG]

There was no way to get the pass door to fit any better. It was even hitting the rocker and drip rail. Solution? Surgery!

  6. Following along on this one. Looks really, really good.

My 66 C10 truck is in good shape for a driver but of course there's a ton of things that I'd like to fix.

I'd love to take it down and start over like your doing.

    Carry on...

Nice work. I might even get to see this in person some day.

  8. Thanks! Nice thing about a C10 is the aftermarket support they have.

    Thanks! I'm sure you will

  9. So I took a closer look and it's defiantly siliconed to the steal tube. The rad hose part is probably only about a 1 1/2" long or so. Hope that helps!

Love the '57 Rancheros. Looks like you are doing some nice work and well on your way to having a gerat '57!
I'm a fan of the 302/4-speed combo. Good, reliable engine that should pull that car around just fine.

  19. Well it's been a while since I've updated this thread. Not because progress has stopped. Not at all. We've been going hard on this thing. The rust repairs wound up being pretty extensive. I really thought I knew what I was getting into with this but there was some hideous stuff covered up with tar and seam sealer covered in undercoating. Good thing I've had some help from my friend Lawrence (HAMBer Budd) who has basically had a full time job for the last three months patching and rehabilitating this 60 year old car back to life. All in all there was a 4'x10'sheet of 20ga put in this car not including the patch panels I bought from EMS. So here a few highlights of what was done. I won't bore you with every detail of every patch. [IMG]https://www.jalopyjournal.com/mobile-gallery/
    these fit like crap.

  20. And then it was decided that the frame had to come out. Due to crap like this...[IMG]

So out it came...[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] Lawrence decided to make a proper shifter housing

  23. Thanks. Once I got so far into it I kinda had to make a decision to either keep going or cut it up and chuck it in the metal bin! Haha I couldn't leave all that nastiness there in good conscious.

You definitely made the right decision Slinger....Nice metal work......Subscribed

  25. Nice project. Looks like it's in the right hands. Reminds me of my 63.5 Falcon. Seemed like everything I touched turned to rust on that car & had to be replaced.

More work than you initially signed up for, but in the end you'll have a "new" '57 Rancheroo. Nothing wrong with that!
