The name of the place is goose lake auto parts. I worked part time there back in the eighties and nineties. There used to be a pile of old cars there, not too many left now

A good day to be retired. Scrap early before the heat and humidity kick in.

Always nice to get one of the hot rods out for a little drive. Unfortunately for us NorCal guys it's brown landscapes, fire, smoke and ash right now.........

  10. Mark,

Your opening pic reminded me of a story my dad told from when he was in high school...

Dad and his buddy stopped by the local yard to look for parts one day, and his buddy parked his nice, but well-used '40 Ford convertible out front (with a warmed-over flathead with aftermarket aluminum heads, dual intake, etc). They were probably looking in the yard for about an hour, and when they got back to his car to leave, the engine and most of the interior was gone! Apparently, the owner thought that the convertible had been dropped off to be put in the yard and started selling parts off of it :D

Not to mention this miserable heat that's been going on for the last 3 weeks.

Wild to see anything that old in a yard anymore. Around here, the few yards I know of are filled with late model junk. Not many parts on them that we can use.

Always like side shots of '40's, does any other car have perfect wheel/tire openings?

LOL! Well, if you're wandering around a salvage yard looking for parts, I'm guessing you're not looking to spend a whole lot of money anyway. ;) There's a bright side to everything! :D

we have several vintage car yards within a an hours drive here, one is owned by Hamber @396skip , French lake auto parts 100 acres of cars from the teens thru the 70's, they have late models too so it is one stop shopping.

There used to be several smaller yards around here that had older stuff, but when scrap prices got so high a few years back along with the owners getting older or dying off, they disappeared. Anthony Myrick probably knows of some over around his area of the state, he's about 45 min east of me, but my area is pretty much dried up.

I've had to rely on Craigslist, FB Marketplace, and eBay for several years to get anything for stuff older than 10 years old....
