well i ran my 62 nova gasser last night (Deuce Bag)this was the first time out with the new straight axle.car ran better than it ever did.it went 11.09@118 with a 1.51 60ft very pleased ,previous best was 11.16 but it almost always ran 11.2-3's .car went sraight and felt stable.it just won't do a good burnout now it keeps kickin sideways, guess i'll hook the line lock up and see if that helps.pics to follow
didn't weigh it yet with the axle,i would have been happy runnin my old times since the susp is so different now.but it worked out good.they said it doesn't squat it just shoots straight out, like a rocket.
Theres nothing like taking the car out for the first time with a new set up and it works. The 10's are just a few ticks away.....get that line lock hooked up !
Kool Kar and Kool name.... Always rewarding to take the new hot rod out for it's first thrashing.....and it all goes well !.... and it goes faster !!!!! In regards to the "sideways out of the burnout"....This usually means a couple of things. If it drifted the same direction everytime, that usually means the scale weight of each rear tire is significantly different....Pre-load on the right rear (preferred) will want to make the car drift to the right and vice versa. If you can scale the car, you'll see what I mean. If you can't scale the car, you can look at how you have stuff located towards the rear of the car (or if the left front of the car is overly heavy and it naturally will be) i.e. battery located behind right rear tire or centered etc., etc. Weight tranfer acts in an "X" so pay close attention to how the weight of stuff is positioned around in the car. Good luck and go kick some a$$ !!
It has not been long enough since I rode with my freind on his first outing in his Falcon gasser.I know I will come around but for now it is GASSER-NOT GOOD !!!!!
in regard to the sideways burn out,the car heated the tires perfect before.the only thing i changed was the straight axle install.i am footbraking ,no linelock do you think that would help
Nice. The lighter front and better stance seems to have really worked for you. I look forward to more updates as you dial her in.
