Is there a rule of thumb for how high the top of the radiator cap should be above the thermostat in my bbc? Should I measure from top of radiator to top of thermostat instead?

I'm replacing my cheap ebay radiator/fan set up in the 55' with a new Griffen radiator/fan and want to put it as low as I can between the rails to get as much airflow across it as possible.

    appreciate it

It really doesn't matter as long as you have a fill point at the highest point in the system so you can get the air out. If the radiator is lower you can put a cap in the top radiator hose as a fill. Moroso has one available, I'm sure other manufacturers do too.
