Like many of us old timers here on the HAMB, I met Jake & June at the second street Rod Nat's in Memphis. Through the years we spent many quality times talking about the sport and how it was changing as we all got older. He was a fine man and I'm proud to have know him.
Met Jake many years ago, he always stopped and talked for a few minutes. A good man, who will be missed by all. RIP Jake.
Sad to hear this! If there was ever a better Ambassador for the NSRA I have not met him yet. God Speed Jake! 48 Poncho
Jake told me at the San Jose Nats (1979) that I was the oldest 37-year-old he'd ever met. (!) With him and Bill Burnham ganging up on me, I knew I was in for the long haul. Two of my favorite people. Butch Jeter was there too.
huge loss to our hobby. first met jake at the bunny run in Jackson when i was living in memphis in grad school. he'll be missed by MANY.
Just an FYI ... the "San Jose Nats" were actually held in 1980 ... the 1979 NSRA Western Street Rod Nationals were held in Merced.
