Just got an e-mail from Richard Parks with this sad news: David Lee Parks passed away very suddenly in the early evening of January 8, 2016 at his home in Corona Del Mar, California. He was 63 at the time of his death. He was the youngest son of National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) founder Wally Parks, by his first wife, Mary Mant Parks. David was a member of the old Lakers car club of the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) and held many records in the 200 Mile Per Hour Club (Bonneville, El Mirage and Muroc). He leaves behind his wife Barbara Coddington Parks, daughters Mari Parks Bell (Matt), Tamara Parks, granddaughters Tesla and Annalee Bell, brother Richard Parks (Epi), nephews Scott (Stacy) Parks, David (Michelle) Parks, Michael (Tara) Parks, three grandnephews (Brock, Trevor and Dane), and four grandnieces (Allison, Jennifer, Violet and a girl due in April). Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 2300 Bonita Canyon Road, Newport Beach, California.
