  1. My Dad lost his battle with bladder cancer today.
He fought the good fight for 7 months. Dad was a
20 year U.S. Air Force veteran, he served his country
with pride in Vietnam. Dad taught me everything
from a work hard attitude, to what I know about cars.
I will miss him very much. Please keep him in your
thoughts and prayers. I'm sure he is smiling down on
us right now from the big golf course above. I love you Dad !

  10. Thank you all for the kind words. It really means a lot. Dad was a fighter
all the way to the end. Though the cancer took its toll
on his body. I could see his strength in his eyes and feel it from the grip of
    his hand. God bless Dad

  16. Sorry for your loss,,just try to remember the good times. HRP

  17. Plenty of good times for sure. Some of the best when my brother and I
were young. When not on duty with the Air Force, dad made extra
money at the local Texaco Station at Dower Road & Steilacoom Blvd
in Lakewood for the family. We would ride are bikes up and watch him
fix cars. He would give us things from the scrap heap to take apart.
Never put those things back together. But we had lots of fun !

Very sorry to hear your news - cherish the good things you remember about him. It sounds like you guys were real close
There are a lot of good people waiting 'on the other side' - we'll all get there one day but there's no rush, 'cause they'll just be waitin' there for us.

  21. May God ease your families pain. Hold the good memories close to your heart.

  24. RIP. "Old soldiers never died ,they just fade away"......... quote General Douglas MacArthur

  25. Didn't get that last ride in the 35 for Dad . Dad was just to sick. May
need to take a drive for him. He always was happy seeing my old
cars when I came to visit. Dad was a avid Harley and Indian rider in
his younger days with the Air Force. He rode some British bikes, while stationed
in Germany. One great story he told was when the rear cylinder
of his Harley blew. Being on leave he pushed the bike to the local
wrecking yard. To prevent being AWOL, the local yard owner gave Dad enough
money for bus fair back to his air base three states away.

I had this poem sent to me today and after reading of the passing of your Father I thought it was appropriate here for and you and all the others to read. May God Bless your Dad and grant you the strength to go on with his memory in your hart!

A Poem You Won't Soon Forget..

    <TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 0in; PADDING-LEFT: 0in; PADDING-RIGHT: 0in; PADDING-TOP: 0in" vAlign=top>
Ol Joe was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
    He sat around the Legion,
    Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
Of his exploits with his buddies,
    They were heroes, every one.

And 'tho sometimes to his neighbors
    His tales became a joke,
    All his buddies listened quietly
For they knew whereof he spoke.

But we'll hear his tales no longer,
For ol' Joe has passed away,
And the world's a little poorer
    For a Soldier died today.

He won't be mourned by many,
Just his children and his wife.
    For he lived an ordinary,
    Very quiet sort of life.

He held a job and raised a family,
    Going quietly on his way;
And the world won't note his passing,
    'Tho a Soldier died today.

    When politicians leave this earth,
    Their bodies lie in state,
    While thousands note their passing,
And proclaim that they were great.

Papers tell of their life stories
From the time that they were young
But the passing of a Soldier
    Goes unnoticed, and unsung.

    Is the greatest contribution
To the welfare of our land,
Some jerk who breaks his promise
    And cons his fellow man?

    Or the ordinary fellow
Who in times of war and strife,
Goes off to serve his country
    And offers up his life?

    The politician's stipend
And the style in which he lives,
    Are often disproportionate,
To the service that he gives.

    While the ordinary Soldier,
    Who offered up his all,
Is paid off with a medal
    And perhaps a pension, small.

    It is not the politicians
    With their compromise and ploys,
Who won for us the freedom
    That our country now enjoys.

Should you find yourself in danger,
    With your enemies at hand,

Would you really want some cop-out,
    With his ever waffling stand?

Or would you want a Soldier
His home, his country, his kin,
    Just a common Soldier,
Who would fight until the end.

He was just a common Soldier,
And his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us
We may need his likes again.

For when countries are in conflict,
    We find the Soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles
    That the politicians start.

If we cannot do him honor
While he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage
At the ending of his days.

    Perhaps just a simple headline
In the paper that might say:

    "OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING,
    A SOLDIER DIED TODAY."

Pass On The Patriotism! YOU can make a difference.

If you are proud of our Vets, then send this to them.

    God Bless America
    And those that protect her..
