Back in the day I owned a Rolls Royce Service center. When the local dealer went broke we serviced a lot more of their cars . One of the more interesting signs sent to us was a very elegantly printed and framed wall hanger.

It stated, "If it don't go, force it. If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyway!!!!!"

That added a lot of conversation in the service bays when a customer saw it hanging on the wall.

    just sayin'

So I'm going to get serious here. This one is from me, developed over decades of attending the School of Hard Knocks (and I believe this with my whole heart):

"Everyone is doing exactly what they want to be doing whether they'll admit it or not."

Now of course there is a caveat to this (since we are being serious). We make thousands of choices that put us where we are. The caveat is that "Bad things happen to good people" - accidents and Acts of God can drastically alter the course - so if you or a loved one have been in a serious accident or have been stricken with cancer and you find yourself in a new and terrible place, I am not suggesting that you somehow intuitively willed yourself there or that you are there as the result of something that you did (or didn't do). Of course, if you or a loved one is fighting for your life and facing grim prospects, you did not make that happen. The caveat is for the unexpected accident or Act of God. But otherwise, well, there it is . . .

Here's a few of my favorites:

An EOD technician was once asked about the stress of bomb diffusing. He shrugged and said "It's not. I'm either right, or suddenly it's not my problem anymore."

On using only what's available to you. "You gotta piss with the cock you got"

And here's a couple from my from my grandfather:

"Why pay a man top dollar to fuck something up as good as you can?"

"Always give the boss an honest hours work for an honest hour of pay."

"If another human being has ever done it, you can too... except for maybe surgery. Leave that shit to the pros."

Lord, in my old age (now!) grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the difference!!!

A former co-worker ; "If you can't drive it, Please park it & throw rocks at it!" This was usually directed at someone that REALLY needed to renew their driver's license at the local "state-hospital"!
