Hi all, I have a halibrand 301 rear end which need a pinion bearing/lash set. Do any of you know a shop in the southeast that does this work? Thanks for all responses.

Any rear end shop that sets up rear ends can set your QC lash.

Buy a new set of carrier bearings and a shim pack, hone your old ones for a slip fit and do it yourself.

As my buddy used to say, "It ain't rocket ship science!"

Be careful whose rear end you are looking at . He may show up in a pink Jag convertible.

I am out on Johns Island. If you are going to the show on June 3, tell me what car you have and I will look for you.

  14. Karfever. My old Army buddy Ray T lives on John's Island. Says his neighbor has a hot rod just like mine only different. That wouldn't be you by chance?

I don't think so, no other Hot Rods in my neighborhood, unless they have been undercover for 3 years. Actually it is kind of disappointing for cars on the Island, most are north of here in Summerville/Mt Pleasant etc.

After a long time, I wanted to give an upsate to my original post. After retirement and relocation I again searched out a competant rebuilder for my quick change Champ rear end. I ended up speaking with Bruce at Gearhead's Quickchange Exchange.
After a few conversations Bruce advised that he could rebuild the rear but it sounded like this would be something I could do pursuent to his instruction and guidance. Bruce thought that adjusting the preload and backlash would solve my problem. Bruce sent me the parts and some test bearings and I dove in. It took a few ateempts to get it right, but alas my quickchange is now very quiet (relative to a quickchange) and performs excellent!
Thank you Bruce aka Gearhead's Quickchange Exchange!!!!!

(the value of being a HAMB supporter is priceless)
