Struggling along. Have deposits for 10 pcs. and 4 more, "your check is in the mail"

I'm patient, but hate it for the guys that anted up.

I'd like to put an ad on eBay, but not sure if I can do it with no actual product on hand. The 10 week turn around would put it beyond their normal limits.

These new adaptors really make for a nice looking rear end.

Yesssss! I'll post some pics soon of what 400 bucks gets you for an original pair of adapter plates. They will function ok but look like shit! I sure hope the guys who committed to ya Bruce put up and follow through.

Here's a few pics of 500 side plate adapters if you can find em. Function. Yup. Looks. A little rough. Time has taken a few bites out of them. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1460486240.305107.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1460486256.875890.jpg
Support your local Unobtainum dealer. Appreciate you again Bruce for trying to get these made.

I never thought about being the 'Unobtainium Dealer":)

I am down to my last set of aluminum plates and have two sets of mag plates. These have been 'massaged' over the years and will require some TLC to be usable. I have no 11 bolt plates at all.

    When they're gone they're gone!

Your plates are pretty typical of magnesium.

I had a recent opportunity to meet "Frames" of HAMB fame! I purchased a complete rear end with Rodsville center. Looks great so far. Rod is still under construction. Frames has alot of knowledge and experience to share with anyone starting out like myself and his quality is TOP NOTCH! If you need a QC contact him.

Dennis Frings (Frames) has been building cars longer than most of us have been alive. I feel pretty honored when he asks me a question. Doesn't happen too often, and usually I don't have a ready answer.

Bruce, I've lost track. Have you produced a prototype of the adaptors and posted photos?

No prototype. When we get to the magic number, we will run a prototype before casting all the parts.
A single piece with tooling would be about $4000!

Have a customer that wants his QC painted this color:

I'm trying to talk him into this:

I know the customer is always right but really?

No, it seems to be available only in a set with the two spiders and cross shaft.

    Di you need it back?

i don't need it back now that i have the part number. a friend that used to work at boston gear can most likely get all i want/need. not very interested in doing champ rear ends anymore. need to spend all my time on my rod projects. trying to liquidate my champ car parts. sold 2 franklands last week. had them for 2-3 years.

    Youngster,
That is a nice looking piece. Someone has a lot of time and $ in that.
I have many sets of 'experienced' gears. You can also find virtually any ratio on the auction site. What I always recommend is getting a used set that you think would be about right. And once you decide are satisfied with the ratio you can buy a higher quality (and probably quieter) set. Helical gears are the quietest but crowned and shaved are almost as quiet. I can also supply you with new sets. You can even get these REM finished, smooth as a baby's behind.

Here's a big Frankland street rod rear end I built about 1981. I used two Frankland left side plates with the 1 3'8" spacer in the right side. And a picture of a 201 I am building with Floyd Davis side plates. While I was at it, I loaded a picture of my shortened X-Shift. S.R.E. side plates with a very narrow 12 spline spool. Also a very rare [big offset] 3" open tube 301. And a pair of side bells for a 201. The only pair that I know of that were ever finished. Cast and machined by the late Levie Jones. SUNDAY 1-29-17 020.JPG SUNDAY 1-29-17 004.JPG TRICK SIDE BELLS & PLATES 006.JPG

I think this is the one I like best. A fabricated V-8 size Frankland. It is in my 29 roadster. p1010062_0021_0095.jpg

Another picture of the Frankland V-8 QC. And a picture of a very rare Davis aluminum V-8 QC. Floyd Davis was co-driver along with Mauri Rose. Winners of the 1941 Indy 500. And a steel converted V-8 QC. It had a 31" lower shaft that bolted up to the trans. I had the shaft shortened and re-splined. And a Kansas Halibrand V-8 QC. A32or2,
Sorry I missed your post. Like you I have no real clue to the origin of that QC. I will look through my files and see if I can see something similar.

    Hey guys,
There is a real nice article about Winters Quickchanges in the latest Rodder's Journal (#74).

Curt Iseli does a fine job of explaining the benefits of the new QCs and showing the roots for our favorite rear ends. This is not a rehash of a bunch of old information, but instead it shows what is available and how improvements have been made over the years.

You know I'm all about saving the old stuff, but there is definitely a place for new parts too. I'm a dealer for Winters and I can tell you that I rarely build a Quickchange that doesn't have a few Winters pieces in it. They have, by far the largest selection bits and pieces and complete rears of anyone.
