So I'm in process of building a 32 Roadster and want to have a 5 speed behind my Flathead. My questions are, why does everyone want the mechanical T5 instead of the electronic speedo? I get the difference in speedo drives but is it because there's no electric gauges that look old(SW)? Just curious if it s a gauge thing...would seem that a WC S10 T5 would be more desirable than a non WC T5 Mechanical. Also, what other 5 speed transmissions has anyone else used with success. Thank all.

Lots of guys run original gauges so they need a cable speedo. Other than that, there are GPS speedometers available today that don't even need a transmission at all.

Use the electronic spedo S10 trans and an electronic spedo. Makes calibrating simple. Stewart Warner wings series curved glass gages look period in a 32 roadster S W gages are of questionable quality, in my opinion, but have not had any problems with my electronic spedo. However, if you want to run a vintage cable drive spedo the older non wc trans is a simple option. I have been running a non wc trans in my 8ba powered 32 roadster for over 75000 miles with no problems. I actually put a pulse generator on my trans so that I could run an electronic spedo
