question about 53 ford steering gear swap

I put a 1954 ford steering gear and pitman arm on a 1953 ford steering wheel/shaft. The steering wheel is now upside down when driving straight. would putting on the 1953 pitman arm correct this problem.

anybody have any ideas?

The pitman arm is probably on the wrong spot. I just removed the column on my 54 and it looked like the pitman arm could go on in any of four positions, based on the flat spots (4) on the shaft. Check this.
