While not exactly what you were looking for, this picture of my Son's rpu will show you the size difference between regular headlights and fog lights. Cowl lights are even smaller and dimmer.

Just how much nightime driving do you plan on doing? Quad headlights on a Model A look best at night truned off and viewed from the rear of the car IMO. Bob

  4. I'm sitting on a set of '61-'63 Imperial headlights for this exact reason - screw the naysayers, it's period correct for about 1958-1965. It seems like most that had them got a custom grille, but clearly others didn't.

If you're going to run small ones, though, convert to halogen bulbs so you can see where the hell you're going at night.

Those cast aluminum stands with the round quad headlights used the standard round quad headlight bulbs. Someone sold the chrome housings for those bulbs not long after the quad lights came out so you could run the low beam lights on rods and have a smaller headlight that wasn't legal in most states at the time.
A hunt though 60's through early 70's rod magazine add sections should show the lights and the stands.

The clear Lucas style lights would look proper in the small housings too.

I just spoke with Bob Bleed and he thinks the ones on the white coupe are off of a snowmobile.... SO, i did a little searching and found that 65 Ski-Doo lights are extremely close to what i have in mind....

I think probably the reason they were popular in 1958 is that is when quad headlights first appeared on most new cars.

The aftermarket jumped on the band wagon and made setups to adapt quad headlights to earlier cars and quad headlight stands for hotrods. Ya gotta have the latest and greatest trend, even if it might not look just right.

they work on the white car because they are not the most prominent feature on the front,
they are small, set low, symentrical but not all at the same level or for/aft placement.
the chrome and white combo helps to down play them too

it looks like someone spent a lot of time finding the right spot to put them.
    I like it.

not so much on any of the other examples

the little RPU with fog lights is cool
but like Don said they aren't exactly quad lights

Now that is a pretty true, AND funny statement there!! :D ^^

I also think they are the best looking Sr.'s coupe over any other quad headlamp hotrod I've seen, but it has to be a well thought out combination of light sizing, staggering, mounts, and grill placement/type to make them look acceptable, and the side by side ones look horrible to me. Even regular single headlight placement on a hot rod can make or break the look of the front of the car if not thought out well.

Offenhauser 5198 are the cast alum. stands or another choice might be Peterbilt, but only if a big truck JY will give you a deal. Look better if turned vertical.

Here are a few more stand alone quad headlamp setup's.As stated in an earlier post there are many more quad setup's that are part of a custom grille surround. If you'd like example's of these I have plenty of pic's saved.

Sorry hell35, but I'm just not into the quad headlight thing on early rods - it's a bit cartoony/show car trying for something different, not something better.
That said, it's your car, and if you want to go for it, then have at it.
The white coupe kinda looks OK, but mostly because they have minimised the size of the lights used - it almost works, but...............
Make sure you post some pics of what you end up doing so we can criticise.......... sorry, make positive comments on.
Cheers, and all the best for the remainder of the festive season to you and yours.
