that engines beauty , friend just got a 348 he s trying to unstick , and him an his neighbor are going to put a 409 in an impalla
great tech thread larry, I just have one question, when you discussed checking the springs for coil bind...shouldnt you take the rocker ratio into consideration? unless the rockers are 1:1 (i.e. equal length on pushrod side and valve side). 525 at the cam could equal a lot more at the valve with a high ratio rocker. . Im not familiar with W motors and they may be 1:1, but thought id mention it just in case. EDIT: my mistake!..just went back and read the cam card, it gives gross valve lift as 525, not cam lift..thats 300. you seemed too meticulous to make that error!sorry.
Thanks guys. Hey Chuck, I wonder if it'd fit in a little yellow import?? lowsquire, Yea, the original 409 rocker arms are 1.75/1 and I installed bigblock Chevy rocker arms that are 1.70/1. So the lift at the valve is actually a little less than .525. As far as mistakes go, I make more than my share! That's the reason I try to double check everything as I go along. Larry T
