    Here’s the part combination:

    1966 327
    1965-67 Muncie
    1957 Chevy truck bellhousing

    Part in question:

    1965 Delco- Remy starter

The top bolt hole has been busted off to be able to clear and bolt onto the bellhousing

Is this common practice or should I search out a better option?

This car has been running these parts since it was built up in the mid 60’s

Looks to me like it was cut or ground off. Most of the hole is still there, I wonder if there was still a short stud in the hole, to keep it located, then the other 2 bolts were used to hold the starter onto the bell. Gene

  3. Dont think it matters. The bolt is still "captured",and will tighten down.

low budget and loudbang like this.
  4. It should be fine, use a thick washer under the bolt.
