Great Find, Good luck on the buildup.
awesome story... glad to see it rise again. Maybe take a look at flamedabone's merc ressurection thread.
well I guess when you have 400+ ft lbs of torque you don't need to rod them much.
What color was it? If it turns out to be the same car, I'll tell you where it's sitting. I've been trying to get it and another one from the same guy but it's kind of up in the air right now. Would be awesome to find out the history of that car and maybe see it restored.
Dad's was originally a medium blue...although it didn't last that way long. He was in an accident the first few days he owned it and started adding primer as he fixed/added stuff. I think he also changed out the tail lights to something Buick. I'll see him later today and ask him more details and pm you. Be kinda cool to find out it still existed.
Is this too far away..?
I ordered rockers for my ride from there to Finland.
(Luckily I work in a speedshop, so it went in with the rest of the stuff for the company...)
Whoah, who is Cross Canada? They seem to have some parts listed there that other vendors don't/haven't had. The wheel well etc.
We sell their parts here in Finland. Mostly for newer cars, but some vintage stuff too. They have a pretty good site.
Cross Canada Homepage:
What parts do they sell? How about the tail pan?
Check out the link above. Then, klick "guest" and so on. Lots of makes & models there...
Any updates? Yeah, I know, it's been friggin' cold...but it would be cool to see this one run again without a rebuild, that is if the block is OK.
Better than a pop up story book! Great score, story and pics to tell it all. Good luck with your James Dean Merc!.........
I love reading stories like this and its hard to beat a 51 Merc tudor as a find / score ...
No updates, it's home safe in my parking lot but I have a lot of other projects to work through before I mess with this one. I'm going to let it sit for a while and collect parts for it for some time in the future.
I am hoping to get the engine running, and this summer I'd at least like to get the wheels freed up and put some tires on it that will hold air to roll it around.
Howdy Good deal, finally. Theirs a place in Vermont, I think it's called Green Mountain Parts, maybe someone else will know correct name. But I do know they make excellant panel,s rocker's ect, ford & merc....good luck happy motorin
Awesome Story and even better score! Congrats!
Green Mountain is no more.
sweet find and great story.
" WOW " You are a lucky man. Have fun. Chuckster49
great find/nice score
Great find and great story
Did no one see the original post date? Not only did the Merc rise from the Grave, so did this topic, LOL!
Those things buried in cemetaries can't relate to time...
Your persistance paid off, wish I had some of it.
Feels good to finally bring it home, I know the feeling. good on ya!
It may be a cool find but this dude hasn't posted any updates since 02/01/2009. Looks like he's only moved it from one cemetary to another. Shame on you.
There`s definately life after death, could there be life outside HAMB...??I seriously doubt it but who knows for sure??May well be he`s busy building, not posting?
Kind of a big assumption there.
I hope I'm wrong.....won't be the first time.
He's had 2 years to build now, there must be some progress right? Let's face it, posting only takes a minute......
Obviously you don't know who you're talking about.
