prying chrome off a 54 chevy

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Sean Allen, Oct 14, 2010.

  1. Are there any tricks to pulling the chrome strips off the side of a '54 Chevy deluxe? I would like to pull them off in one piece to give to someone.

They are bolted on. take your interior panels off and you"ll find the nuts on the back side.

The rear quarter ones actually have a built in plate on the back side that the studs stick out of. If you try to pry them off they'll be ruined.

The door and front fender ones usually just have a bolt at each end and push in clips in the center, that's how my Dad's '54 was.

  5. you can give them to me unless you pulled them off

  7. Thanks for the the tips fellas. I looked at it closer yesterday and see what you are talking about regarding the nuts. I wasn't gonna actually "pry" them until I had more info. "Remove" is what I should've said.
