History >>>Proof is in the Pudding:Early Chevy V8 Hot Rods!!!!<<<

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JeffreyJames, Dec 24, 2009.

  1. when i said different i didnt mean different just to be different i meant not building your car to look and be like the next one

i love 32 fords but there is nothing more boring to look at then a row of 20 black 32 highboys with small block chevys and laker style headers with the only real difference between them MAYBE being the wheels

hot rodding is about speed , performance and individuality not cookie cutters

the best sounding egines are big block mopars and hemi yeah i know a hemi is a big block mopar

I've seen this one a few times in older magazines and Rodder's journal and it might be one of my favorites!!! Was out on the salt in '55 with that brand new engine and he even had it decked out with a new intake and shit. So rad!!!!

This one is another rendition of the S-Cal Coupe right? I know either that or the Pierson ended up getting a 265 after the flathead.

  11. Nope that is the Pierson Bros. coupe Tom Cobbs bought it from Dawson Hadley. Tom Cobbs is the common link between the So-Cal coupe and the Pierson Bros. coupe. Cobbs ran his crank driven blown flathead in the So-Cal coupe in '53. Cobbs bought the Ex Pierson coupe in about '56 and dropped the crank driven blown SBC.

:eek::eek: thank you, I just try to share my passion for the history. Rik is like the Yoda of Custom history and I am a mere Padawan learner of Hot Rod history.

Old Fords, Small Block Chevys, and T-Birds all have a special place in my heart: While cruising my 'flattie' powered '37 Slant Back showing off a fresh paint job (one week old) in high school, a chick in a brand new 65 T-Bird turned in front of me trying to 'beat the light;' my frame horns 'punched through' my fenders AND her T-Bird, ripping two car-length tears in the Bird and shortening my ride by about 6 inches! Before we put a donor front clip on it we stuffed a 265" SBC in the Ford. Funny how all three came together!

"The resulting action is that they immediately feel disaproval by something that they haven't really tried to understand or accept/approve of. Examples would be "Maker Purists" i.e.: Ford in a Ford..."

A SBC in Ford reminds of Sushi.., Lots of people say it is the greatest thing ever. Can't live without it!!!!I tried to understand it, I tried to accept it, but I really don't care for it... Matter of fact I could potentialy stave to death if that raw shit was my only food option.....

Not saying you can't like Sushi, but you will never make me like it..

I'm pretty sure you can't trademark a word not associated with a product or service.

...but, just to make it easier for you, the keyboard shortcut on OS X is (option+2) and (alt+0153) for Windows. You could also just copy and paste this one ™.

In what context did you take my post, anyway?

...and thanks for the SBC pics, I love them. Anyone who does not is just hating for the sake of hatred.

I was like that in my teens/20's. Primarily GM, but anything muscle/pony car.

I got interested in VARA (vintage racing) and loved seeing 4 banger Mini's and Lotus' beat up on 6's and V8's in the twisties. It was about that time I realized it does not have to be a big block/hemi whatever to be cool.

I'm glad it opened my eyes or I'd just be another idiot with a sticker of Calvin pissing on a blue oval in my rear window.

Jeez. I try to get a little jokey on a night the Mavs & Lakers seem to be unbearable to watch and the Red Sox game jogs sluggishly past 2 AM and someone knocks the thread rating down a star! I'll go back and edit my posts to preserve the integrity of the thread.:D
