[PROJECT] Laidout53

  1. This is my 1953 dodge pickup that i built last winter in 6 months and drove all summer. Now its getting air bags, three link, raised bed floor, new exhaust and some interior stuff(sound deader,carpet,ect) Anways heres some before pictures........


    Didnt get picture of the tear down but heres some of the notch install and lower links mocked up....


    heres the front awaiting my re6 bags to show up....



    Thats all the progress so far, more to come.......

    keep us updated. I am planning a similar rear on my spare frame so next winter I can swap frames and have a full air setup.

    got the frame boxing plates cut and tacked in place...

  16. Well got the frame plates all welded and got the upper wishbone tacked together today. tommorrow ill try to get the bags mounted....

    Looking for seeing it when you get done. With that front susp, its easy to get the front valance to touch. Mine does currently

  20. thanks guys, someday soon i wanna either open my own rod shop or get a job at a rod shop. this will be my rolling portfillio....along with my chassis build on my 69' pickup.

    Wow that's gonna look cool... may a suggest something OT? You should find another pair of front fenders and change the rear wheel arches to match the fronts, the rears look really odd, but the fronts look great with your wheel/tire combo!!

  24. Well i got a late start but got the upper and lower bag mounts tacked in there right spots.... The cross's will be box around them for added strengh.... with the way the bags are setup when compressed the rear of the running boards will be 2" off the ground.

  25. Well i changed the box tube for some round bar and i looks way better, plus i got the cross's boxed in there will be a gusset in front for added strength (the last pic is the cardboard template).....

    There is a 5 window version of that truck out in my Grandma's pasture, I should rescue it for my next project. It still has the flat 6 in it. Maybe some day....

  28. i took it a ground level, in the grass... the truck has a fatman ifs kit under it..
     
  29. Well got some more done. Cut out the frame and check the 3-link's travel to make sure it wouldnt bind. also welded up the upper wishbone and the forward mounts on the wisbone...

    have to weld up the lower bars and then all the mounts need welded in, man theres a lot of welding to be done:eek:
