Tranny "hump" looks pretty darn nice there Mike ( what day is it?) HUMP DAY It's interesting making parts without all the fancy equipment. I'll be wandering around in Home Depot looking at things and someone will ask "what are you looking for?" I tell them I won't know till I see it. That gets rid of them pretty quick! I just got new glasses- left the old ones under the car and pulled them out with a push broom- they looked like they got hit with a grinder! Carry on, you are killing it!
Nice work, minimal tools, perfect... how about a tube welded down into the hump, if you are a Saturday morning coffee guy you could make a mug holder who's peg slides into the tube... when not using it drop a #2 pencil into it... just my $0.02
Thursday Nights mission was to remove what I needed to get the body off and access the subrails. When I built it the way I did, in my brain I figured it would work ... it did. Perfectly !! Up it went with no issues. It’s really tight to the orig subrail sections I left. I had to pry it apart while hoisting the body off. So I’m hoping it welds together as good as it came apart. It should. Added some additional supports under the channel to stiffen up the floor in the seating areas. Made a huge difference and it doesn’t affect anything regarding the height of the floor. All cleaned up and welded completely. Started cleaning the inside of the body to get the subrails attached to it at the rear kick. I’m going to fabricate mounting brackets at the rearest most fender holes on the quarters. It should work great as the fillers fit perfectly between them. Feel like this is a big step. Hoping to have the subrails and inside the body in sealer by the end of the weekend to avoid rusting up. Onward Mike L. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Short work day equals time in the garage today. Cleaned up the remainder of the sub rail still connected to the body of the car, got everything in line back on the chassis and welded the new floor and the body together. Once it was all set I hoisted it back off to make life easier. Feel pretty good about it. It went back together perfectly. I got to work on my rear subrail mount to get things buttoned up before sealer. Onward Mike L. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hoped to get a bit more accomplished today however dad duties and responsibilities won as they should. Did get my sub rail mounts fabricated and welded to the subrails in the rear corners. I used the fender mount holes as it was a perfect location. Once those were done I had to trim the new subrail fillers I made. Just had to trim the back few inches to clear the new brackets. Tomorrow’s plan is to get everything cleaned up Seam sealed and sprayed in epoxy sealer. Things will be at idle till next weekend because I’m leaving for the week on Monday, so I don’t want things to rust up. Short but productive day ... Onward Mike L. Last update until I return from NJ next week. Got the new floor structure and all the bare metal sealed with a few good coats of epoxy sealer. I was hugely overwhelmed reading how guys channel cars, I decided to simplify it in my head and I’m happy with the results...goal accomplished. Onward Mike L. 8/9 days out of the garage and I’m missing the mojo ... spent some time blasting and sealing parts last night. Tonight I got the floor seam sealed, removed the stanchions I made to channel the body. Started templating the floor ... Naturally it’s about 1” too big for my damn bead roller Som-bich So back to the drawing board ... literally.
Well, if it's too big, can you do 2 pieces? You could revise your pattern down the middle behind the hump and make a flanged overlap there so you can put it back together once you've done your thing.
If I move the beads in 1” near the door sill on either side it should spin through the throat of the roller frame. “Should” Looking to avoid having to cut it in 1/2. I’m learning as I go Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I actually messed that up. It’s the other side I need to move. Either way. I’ll figure it out. Always do Thanks Pat Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
