Hey 340 I don't know how that pic was taken but that bracket is messing my eyes up......and your making great progress there.

The opener incident is pretty freaky and yes it could have been much worse. That said it certainly left a mark...

  9. Best way to mount anything to that bracket is to use specialist bolts.( as illustrated )

    8 and 3/4 gear ratio?
Rear is from 1960 with huge rear drums (emergency / Taxi) drums & tapered keyway ends)
Spun rear tire 10 times with the other tire locked. ( are there tire goes backwards when up in the air)
Drive shaft rotated 16 times + 40 degrees.
    1:61 ????
Am I doing something wrong or is it for real?
    Keep 'em for Bonneville

  21. Put a chalk mark on one of your rear tires, and a mark on the driveshaft. Turn the driveshaft by hand. Count how many turns it takes on the driveshaft to one revolution of the tire. 3 turns + 3:1. 3 1/2 turns + 3.5:1, and so on. Not rocket science. ;)

And, yes, the louver panels are way to "ratty". Don't down grade all your nice work.

    Thank's Stogy.....
    Dean....i'm OFF the fence!..
    - yes 1 tire revolution = drive shaft spins less than 2 times....~1.6.
    that's why I did 10 turns...
2.76 is the lowest gear set I've seen for 8-3/4...?

lots of great work, I really like the military connectors and wire covering your using. great attention to detail....

Have you figured out the gear ration? Do you have a posi or limited slip rear?
Posi: Jack both wheels off the ground. Turn one wheel 1 complete turn and count the turns on the drive shaft.
Non-posi: Jack one wheel off the ground. Turn the wheel 2 complete turns and count the turns on the drive shaft.
