I spent the last couple of days putting in new rocker panels. It was kind of a job, but it's done. Today I decided to start to do some lowering. Took two coils out of the front springs. It went easier than expected and it lowered it just the right amount. Next is the rear end. I have 3" blocks for it, but looking at it, I'm wondering if that would be too much. What does everyone think? Tom
After further review, I think you're right. I'm going for it. Also, after chopping the front springs, it rides much better. I was surprised. Next may be removing the bumper guards. Tom
Love the old Olds! I think the 3 did it. Looks great, now what changes are you going to do to the cosmetics?
Thanks for the comments. I will maybe lose the bumper guards and try to buff out the paint. I have two holes to fix in the front fenders and I'd like to do something with the surface rust. I'm not planning on painting it right away. I think it's earned its patina. Tom
Hey, that thing is great! I have a '52 98 also. Mine was already lowered when I got it but I think it was done simillary to how you did yours. I know they had run 3" lowering blocks in mine until the PO got a screaming deal on some smaller tires than stock and just adding those dropped it a few more inches, then he switched back to the 2" blocks. Right now it's a good height for driving around town but sometimes I wish it was lower in the back.
