Both are great suggestions. I like running without caps on my 442. For some reason it just looks right on the car, shows off the strange axles too.

@Rocky I've said it before, love your car!

Looks like a place for a fancy 'R'...by flat cap I thought the reference was to something similar to the Cragar style caps...

  5. That wheel looks great Rocky. Great job. Really like the simple smooth center cap.

  11. It's been a crazy few months. Bought a new place, spent mega hours moving and fixing up tthe old house to sell. Got a really nice bid on it and if the inspection isn't too harsh, it's sold. Been building storage shelves and stocking them with our junk at the new house. Today I finally took some time off to replace the wire wheels with the old 60s American torque thrusts and new tires. I had to remove the axle shafts to get the lug studs [really just high strength 1/2 inch bolts] changed over to the threaded 4 and 3/4 holes in the axle flanges. My brake drums were already drilled for both GM and ford patterns so it's wasn't a huge deal. Had the rear wheels balanced several months ago when I had the tires mounted up.
Anything over 55 mph the rear of the car vibrates. If I can get time tomorrow I'll put the rear on stands and watch the wheels as I let the wheels turn in gear. Hoping I don't have any oblong tires or weird shit. Fingers crossed. Maybe its' just a bogus balance job. I LOVE how they look! I'll try the flat center caps and the 3 bar spinners to decide what I like best. 32gettingnewwheels.jpg 34americans1.jpg 34americans3.jpg

Love the 5 spokes. Did you get a 2 car garage out of the deal? Looks like way more room.

    See you in August,

    Bitchin'

5 spokes give it that pure Hot Rod look.
The Wires gave it that more Cruiser look.

Paint it Mustard Color and you and Slaymaker would be buds.

Holy shit! I loved the wires but that’s a mean hot rod right there.

it has to feel amazing to be able to do that in your garage with out having your back against a wall.

I honesty don’t know if I’m more excited for how good the wheels look, or for you having that waaaaaaaaaaay bigger garage now. Congrats either way you deserve both!

I liked the wires just fine, but those 5-spokes are an improvement. Congrats on the new house!

Hey Rock those rims look amazing, enough for me to copy your lead and ditch the wires also. Mine were actually made for the car by True spoke back in its show circuit days. I really dig to the most your choice dude . (Written in my best hippy role)
Good move on your part. Checking into the price as this is typed, but only for curiosity. I've pumped in excess of $4000.00  into mine in the last year or so and it doesn't even show and so the wires will have to stay. Don't get me wrong, my wires make my day every time I look at them, but the Americans would sure be a very welcome change.

  23. 5 Spokes rule! Also, looks like you got a 3 car garage out of the deal.. I'm in the exact same position! I'm upgrading this week from a 2 to a 3 car. We are moving out as we speak.

3 car?? Even better. Now, you can go find more stuff.

  28. I say get O'briens Truckers to cast you some new ones with either just and "R" or a logo with and R in it. Maybe even bow it to clear the dust caps or make them wider and hog out the center.

    Some R fonts:

Like others here, I loved your car and like it even better now! What size rear tires are they? Is it a 10x15 wheel? Trying to decide what to run on the back of my similar car. Thanks.
