Primer and self etcing primer for laquer?

I been doing some lacquer work lately, I still like how it looks compared to BC/CC.
I put down a good coat of PPG DP-40F on bare metal. I top that with high build polyester primer to do all my blocking. After that a put a few coats of lacquer primer, final sand and paint. The DP provides a better water barrier against the bare metal and the polyester primer is as compatable with both DP and lacquer seeing as how it's basicaly sprayable plastic filler, makes it all problem free. I know we did it for years but lacquer primers alone over bare metal allow moisture to get to the metal.
