Price to recore a radiator??!?! Holy Crap!

    It's harder and harder to find shops who do repairs.. it's all replacement now. There is a wrecking yard in our area that repairs radiators at a reasonable cost... $12 for a tube of alumiseal... ha! Oh... and they throw in a lower pressure radiator cap. You know.. for those "permanent" fixes.

    Anymore it's just cheaper to buy a new one.

    I ran into the same thing with my '47 Chevy coupe. A recore was more than a new one. I put in an AFCO aluminum radiator for about $500. Overheating is gone now. It seems fixing gas tanks is about the same as radiators, cheaper and better to buy a new one.

    I am putting together a '89 Mustang with a 400SBC and ordered a new two pass Aluminum radiator from Speedway for $179, 100% welded and looks and fits great.

    Yeah... I'm getting an aluminum radiator for my '58 Chevy wagon... $199. Just can't beat it.

    My original '40 radiator was recored for around $300, and change..... A new Walker for a '40 Ford is over $700 these days...... I did the math........
