Ok so I have a question? I have a 1946 chrysler windsor and I have a 351 windsor. My Idea is to have a windsor powered by windsor. the original chrysler motor is junk and the 351 is just sitting in the shop. My question is will I have to change the rear end. I am going to run a 3 speed od with it. What speed will it go with the stock 46 rear??? I am just building a crusier not a race car but would like to drive down th hiway at good speed

46poncho;I would think that if you drive it sanely and smoothly you should be OK.I think the three speed will break before the rearend!I have a couple of friends running three speed/ODs and stock rearends in 50s Fords with 289 and 302 engines that have not had any issues! ROY.

    Here's my Italia.

Some call them Italian Cobras. They had Ford power-trains. Some were even assembled by Holman Moody under the name Omega, but they took too long. I checked with Ford to find out what the factory option number meant. They said it was everything from the radiator to the rear end. They had the best small block for the year, mostly top loaders, and a 8 or 9 inch rear. They weighed less than 2,600lbs.

These are some pictures of my model A coupe. It was built by a fellow hamber ( Razor ). It's powered by a 302 Ford with a C4 and an 8" maverick rear. I've made a couple of minor changes since I bought it and use it as my daily driver.

289 in my Hot Rod. I got the core from an old Ford truck that I bought for 200.oo. It had the M/T valve covers, Edelbrock intake, and MSD Ignition. I built it for my IH hot rod. If you notice in the pic, a friend of mine( BOutlaw here) put his ice cream on the intake to help thaw it out while we were at cruising the coast :D
