Ed Almquist also spent a lot of time and energy on marketing within little pages as well. Usually this was done through slip-ins printed with the same quality as his catalog. It's striking when you find one inside an old Rod & Custom or Hop Up because the contrast in quality becomes REALLY apparent. Here are a couple of my favorites: At some point, Almquist stopped pushing the parts business as much and started pushing their own publications. Or, at least, publications they had the rights to... Interestingly, the quality of these slip-ins and catalogs isn't nearly as high as his efforts in the parts industry just a couple of years earlier. I don't collect these, but do have one on hand:
That Lakester is just amazing...we need more pix of this beauty. Almquist Engineering & Mgf....out of all places Milford PA. an amazing east coast hot-rodder story !!!
I sent all of the pictures to @Ryan, that I have of that lakester, that I shot at that private event. I suggested to him, that at some point in the future, for him to do a proper write up, about the history of this great car. Here is just one more teaser, in hope's of Ryan doing a write up about it.
