I should have quit after 13 hours. I am going to have to respray the hood in the morning. Oh well. It's just paint.

Much better than the Krylon rattle can job I did back in the '60s.

Well, you think anyhow. This has more pearl to it than I thought. I have never shot pearl. It could be horrendous.

Making progress. A little minor stripe here and there though I fear. Waiting for it to dry before clear. Still have to paint the firewall yet too. Painted a motorcycle tank apple green once, beautiful job. Walked into the house to get a cold drink and when I came back out the tank was black with gnats. All you can do is wait for it to dry, sand them off at the knees and try again.o_O

Had an old friend swing by this morning to help get this chassis rolling. Minus one flat tire that’s never even been on a vehicle andbyet couple odds and ends it should be good to go. Leaving shortly to pick up the engine E9116B2B-222A-449D-9037-CB5985D0A5DE.png 0856B088-B235-449F-AF3D-91AAE6C67FAA.jpeg

It’s over the red and there may be some touch up overspray here and there. I was tired and I wanted to redo it but rubbed one spot and decided I didn’t have the patience.

He's older than me. And by old I mean we've been friends for a long time. He was my best man 20 years ago.

Had a setback today but also some progress. Starting to look like a hot rod in the shop now. Trying to fit 10 pounds of stuff into a 2 pound space gets a little cozy especially when trying to use real hoses and not flex hoses. 4F9A4475-3024-411C-A192-C3E29A4EBEA7.jpeg 4697D1CD-08DA-43C2-8198-07F64BEC9A2D.jpeg F460B7F7-CBE2-4010-BECF-256A3363F797.jpeg 3041E979-FF93-4F75-B9F9-62373EBCEA15.jpeg 10129469-4036-4345-8E16-0FBB55E74673.jpeg

  16. Just a suggestion I used hose to connect to the motor and the radiator but in the middle I use coppper pipe it polishes up nice and has the old look of the flat head hoses. Maybe something to think about I also can’t stand the universal flex hoses.

Brackets below the frame black to blend into the shadows, painted the wheel weights, put the trim rings and center caps on, cut the webbing for the bolts, and hopefully put the body on again tomorrow. Little details make a huge difference in the end. 612F0A68-5760-4EE1-A45E-B01605F142BA.jpeg 216EF83A-1AC5-4FC2-A229-BC4F9125349F.jpeg FA5F6F8B-279C-4A5E-910F-AE6E8E696F58.jpeg

Put the body on to finish up the rear part of the exhaust. But being as I’m a large child I wanted to see what the rest of it look like it too. Hopefully my clearcoat issue was confined to just the turtle deck and I can redo it. I sure hope I don’t have to sand the entire car back down to nothing and start over. Knock on wood everything else seems to be fine so far. 9C6E8CCB-9F8E-4413-A6AF-A1A013CA9B46.jpeg 8F3C5D79-7CD3-49B6-B2E3-971B7833CE34.jpeg

I am fearing however that the clear problem wasn’t isolated to just the turtle deck. I am going to run it for the summer and see how it works. If I run into major problems with paint peel I will tear it apart this winter and redo it before we give it away. Body back off to finish weld the tailpipes. 4BCB94C2-EBA2-420F-B361-32517C37FFD7.jpeg F8815595-8F30-4DE8-91C5-03EEA66B0BDF.jpeg 7EC5AA87-C6AC-41DC-AF0E-12B2CD06C2BF.jpeg

Slowly picking away at it. Progress seems slow and a few bumps along the way. Hopefully the next light is the end of the tunnel. We have lights, it runs, and the brakes are almost bled. I may be able to take it down the driveway soon. D150591B-E726-4C58-A028-9705B3417674.jpeg 5A5FDF49-B318-42BD-A8D9-728186356082.jpeg

Did you buy your 3-spoke Bell type wheel lately??? Where, please!
Very neat, trim little car all within proper proportions. YOU have an eye.
My wife glanced at it, (paint and all) declared it to have been born on the lakes, 1940.
    She also has an eye...
