This is the dash I came up with for my 48 F1. I used a head light bucket from a 52 Ford Sedan, and a diffuser ring that is used in canned lighting applications for homes. It was a perfect fit to hold the Late 80's Jeep CJ gauges cluster. I liked the fact that oil, temp and gas gauge were included in one gauge, and it was free.....

Here is a Capri gauge cluster hidden under a milled aluminum face plate that also mounts mini lites for turn signals and high beam indicator. (Coming out of my Model A to be replaced by a '40 Ford dash and new cluster.)...can anyone use it??

Hehehehe. Thanks. The louvers I used for the dash came from that panel I got from you, when I bought the sedan. Sure do miss that car. :D Thanks again.

Gutted my '63 Falcon's panel, and reused the back, and the front trim ring. Cut a flat aluminum panel, and set my gauges into it.

  16. I'll play along. Had a friend machine this at his sign shop a couple years ago. I got the layout idea from the way the Wings gauges were packaged when I got them. It's 1/2 inch thick aluminum with 1/4 inch ribs machined 1/4 inch deep, and the gauge holes are recessed in 1/4 inch to sit level with the bottom of the ribs. then painted with a rough texture paint and then polished the ribs. The panel was made to fit the contour of the dash ( 31 Studebaker ) and it's in my 29 Model A Roadster.

sweet! lots of good stuff here. Im studying up for my own gauge cluster.
Keep the post rolling in. too often the cluster is over looked.. so post away guys.. show off your cluster.

here is what Im starting with on mine. *photo from the web* but its a new Dennis Carpenter dash bezel. The Center glass comes out.. want to use a cool material in the center with some vintage gauges or styled gauges.. [IMG]

My 39 Ford coupe dash some po had cut up. Made a frame out of 1/8 x 1/2 aluminum, sanded the front edge to fit the curve of the dash. Backed it up with some turned plate and welded tabs to bolt to studs welded to the back of the dash.

While I was at it I made a simular panel that fit under the speaker grill I hinged to hide the radio, switches and A/C vent.

  23. Here's one Jim ( Maxgearhead ) and I put together for his 34 pick-up. The backround material is made from a sheet of the same stuff they make guitar pics from, the panel itself is one of the very limited pieces cast by Alchemy here on the HAMB. Should be a cool little 34 when it's all done. I hope Jim doesn't mind me showing off our combined effort on this one.

This is a fantastic thread, I love them all. The fabrication and designs are all different and it shows how thinking outside the box pays off.

  28. Thanks 56, we were pretty happy with the final outcome. It looks great in the cab.

    I see on your avatar you've got a W block (348/409) Jim's 34 will be 409 dual quad powered.

Here is mine on my '40 pickup. I really wanted all of the gauges including a tach. in the original gauge bezel. What I ended up with were Teleflex gauges with an engine turned plate in the original bezel. The switch housing on the lower left was cut out from the center part of a VW dash with fender Telecaster knobs. The turn signal arm and tilt adjuster are whammy bars from an early '60's Gibson SG.
