I'm putting together a GM 12 bolt rear for my '53. When I took it apart to clean, I discovered all the friction plates were all steel. My question is, which is better.....Organic, carbon fiber, or steel? And why?

    Thanks...

    "Better" for what?

noise, durability, breakaway torque, driving in snow, drag racing, price, availability, etc are some possible metrics, and there are probably some tradeoffs in there somewhere.

Better for less hassle on the street.
