porous wheel What to do

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hiboy, May 21, 2009.

  1. Have a slow leak in a 15x10 slotted aluminum wheel. Any suggestions in coating the inside or just put in a tube. The bad spot is in the non polished part on the backside.

When i run into porousity in harley stuff i use either gasolia hard set (red stuff) or i use glyptol electric motor winding enamel.
The glyptone takes a little longer to dry but bolth work well to seal out oil,air should not be a problem.

Paint the trough between the beads with a heavy coat of paint.

  4. When I worked at a tire shop in the 70's and we had this problem, we would take a ball peen hammer and "peen" the offending area from the inside of the wheel. this would usually close up the porosity. Worked like a charm if you took your time and "Worked" the area.
