So after a couple of beers with my dad and LOTS of persuasion I will be ordering the bags and brackets for the car tomorrow.
I'd think it would be simpler to just scrub it with the CLR every so often and be done with it. That way when he gets tired of the worn out paint look and decides to redo the car there will be less to contend with.
Mad Rods, how about sharing the CLR wash details. Do you dilute it? How long do you leave it on the paint? What do you wash or scrub the paint with? Thanks
Damn, that car washed looks really good! Keep it up man, your dad has a sweet ride there. Is the pic of the engine as you got it?
Very Kool, Good luck making the LSR 13. The Round Up is the goal that I have with my '60 Four door Impala. Looks like you have a good start, keep us posted the progress. Happy Trails, Mick
This is an old picture, It needs some work because of lack of TLC on my part. I'm rebuilding it for a daily driver. New 350/350 set up, rebuilding the front end and adding power disc brakes, A/C etc., Hope to have it rolling and in Primer for the Round Up. Happy Trails, Mick
Thanks guys for all the compliments and support! On the wash it was my first time doing it so here is how I did it. Gathered supplies- rubber gloves, bucket, used 2 cans of CLR and Bundle of scotchbrite pads and wash rag. Diluted the CLR to 70 CLR and 30 water... Gave the car a quick rinse give a quick pass of CLR with scotchbrite pad (one panel at a time) then once the panel was wet I would give a mild pressure scrub with the pads going all in same direction untill I was satisfied with the panel then another rinse followed by the wash rag to clear up streaks. Then on to the next panel. Took about 3 hours (big car) I also scrubbed the trim pieces and emblems. I still need some small spots to do. After all that I rinsed the car a lot to take off the excess CLR that I might of missed. Hope this helps!
Mad Rods Thanks, CLR seems like a viable option for some jobs. I used Comet on a car once, but it was gray.
Just thought I would share the the air ride is on order (minus the air management) should get it some time this week. Probably no updates untill then.
the '60 Merc grill + the '60 Buick full covers on a flat top hardtop = freakin' gorgeous, Mick! sweet sedan on your part too, mad rods! that scorpion suggests someone in your car's history might have had ties to the Mexican state of Durango. Durango is famous (infamous?) for it's scorps and folks from that region often carry wire replicas like the one you found in the car.
Man, what a bazaar cache of crap to be in a car. I'm diggen the creepy insecto- thingamajig. Great car, you'll have a bunch of fun in it! -H.R.D-
Looks like a fun build. She cleaned up real well after your CLR bath. Looking forward to updates. Subscribed.
