Technical Pontiac Turn Signal Switch Help 1948

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jchev1953, Dec 10, 2017.

  1. I'm trouble shooting a problem with a 1948 Pontiac turn signal switch. There are multiple connectors on it and I could really use a circuit diagram.
I've looked for one on the old car manual project and I googled around without any success.
If any one knows where I can find one I'd appreciated the assistance.

    Thanks in advance.

The typical method is to either trace the wires to the lights, if they have color codes that you can still see, or use an Ohm meter to see what the switch does in it's three positions, when disconnected from the rest of the wiring.

If it has at least 6 wires, then the brake lights go through it. If not, then it should be pretty simple.

  3. Thanks for your responses I was able to figure it out with an ohm meter.
Squirrel thanks for the Brake Light hint that was a big help.
