Pontiac Trans

    Can some one tell me what the trans is that runs behind the 383 Pontiac from 1963, its the one that has reverse on the far side from park.

    Dual coupling hydramatic, Pontiac called it Super hydramatic in that year.

    not sure which one you have but first i guess your talking about a 389 eng.
    there were 2 auto trans
    Jetaway Controlled Coupling Hydramatic
    "Slim Jim" Roto-Hydramatic

    Both the slim jim and Jetaway have reverse at the bottom. Which car did the engine/transmission come out of? Catalinas, Venturas and Grand Prixs used the slim jim, Star Chiefs and Bonnevilles used the Jetaway.
