BTW, This is the seat I stitched up for the Fleetline. It looks like I'm trying to get to where you're coming from! :D

Most of the boring stuff is done, now Ill just have to decide how to design the grillshroud and splashpan and such! Shall also shorten the frontbumper and brackets

  5. Love it! Can't wait to see how it turns out. It's a kustom and you will never see the motor anyways so a 350 is fine! Can't wait to see you cut it up! Also I would go with a smooth deck lid if it were mine;)

    Thanks, Swede'!

It will be hard to beat the original Pontiac shape. There are several early Ponchos with frenched original openings on Kustomrama, Rikster's, etc., and they all look good! (I brought this '49 over from CarNut, mainly because the simplicity of the grille displays the opening well.)

This '51 has a grille more like your '53.
    (brought over from Kustomrama)

...And I had to include this one ('50?) from Rikster's, just because it's so nice.

(Sorry, no '53's:but that characteristic Pontiac shape is there.)

You have a great start! Told ya' the backup light holes were big! I'd ditch the chrome and smooth it out. Excited to see the grill work begin!

  12. Sweet Pontiac, and nice work so far on the body, I always love cutting out rust/cancer and burning some new metal in.

Also I found this underneath the upholstery to the left of the rear seat, what does the number mean?

Need to fix this, and much more...

And BTW, is there any other more modern engine that fits to my auto transmission that I can use while I fix the Straight 8? It doesnt matter if I have to fab enginemounts and such as long as it fits the pattern and such of the transmission..

Looks like a slider for the window mechanism. Is it on the floor or on the side of the car right above where the arm rest bolts to the car?

Its more like a badge with a serialnumber of some sort.

Rust can be quite enjoyable when you got good tools to work with, but I bought the car without seeing it before and the previous owner wasnt very honest with how much rust there were on the car...

Okay Ive got another question for you guys!

Say that I would like to make a Carson top for the car, how am I gonna reinforce the body before I cut the roof off?

And how would I work on the ventwindows since they are so much taller than the windshield frame?

    Cheers

I didn't want to ask that! LOL.

Maybe you'll luck up on something like a shoebox Ford. (I used one upside down in a '53 Stude.)

    Thanks mob53

A shoebox window would be nice! Got any pics of that Stude? A Stude -53 -54 is kind of a dreamcar for me!

That chevy window looks great, too bad there isnt many american cars in the swedish woods.. Ill see what I can find!

Anyways, finished both B-posts today but the gap between the right post and the door needs a little attention. Started on the windowframe on the left door to and got alot done today including alot of rust in the floor and wheelwell on the right side..

The guy in the photos is Viktor, a good mate of mine. Cant thank him enough for helping me with rustrepairing, welding and stuff.. Things move on a whole lot quicker when you got someone to help you in the garage!!
