i have this old ballancing thing and i will try to figure out how to move drum and wheel so you can minimize lead weights on wheel has enyone used this thing? by the way i have new 15 inch 8wide from retrmotive and i have 15x255x70 on car this i a check for clerance and looks good. ken sweden
That may work on the rears but won't work on the fronts. I used an old Hunter Head balancer that spin balances the wheel on the car.
The Pontiac dealer I worked at had an adapter that had a "normal" size hole in the middle to center on a balancer.. but you knew that..
yes there is a ballancing plate to buy it will taksome tim to get it you are on other side of earth. on picture drum is zero on bladder.you can see that i placed lugnuts on rim where tire is high.i will mark this side and tourqe nuts and take unit to my tire guy and he will spinn on macine.i will see diffrence.for front i take i good drum and mark where ballancing weights is on drum and try to match them with front drum weights. ken
could you please tell me where you purchased the 15 inch rims? i have googled the reference you made to retrmotive and come up empty, thank you.
Never CUT those drums! They will chatter. The drums need to be ground not cut. Cutting causes the drums harmonicly vibrate and the end result will be chatter when you apply the brakes.
great sucsess left wheel 65 grams of lead and right 75grams .a lot of messing with ballancing macine but we put unit inside out and put ballancing weight i middle. i got same lead weigth with old thing. putting one tire on car and had to put jack on other side to get wheel in clearence is good 1 inch .this 8x15 will not fit on 62 body only 7 inch have clerance. ken
Why not use Dyna Beads inside the tire and not put ugly wheel weights on the rims? Problem solved! Check it out: www.innovativebalancing.com . Jim
